New Year, Better You
A new year is a great time for reflection and goal setting. While these activities can, and should, take place throughout the year, the new year is often a natural time for these reflections to occur. When considering progress and future goals, it is important to be able to reflect on what you have already accomplished. It can be quite easy to identify shortcomings and areas of improvement which can leave you feeling bad about yourself. Instead, let’s shift the focus in a more positive direction. What if we focused on all of our accomplishments over the past year? Perhaps we did better managing our emotions or communicating with our partners. Maybe we prioritized self-care this year. By focusing on what we have done right, we are able to generate a more positive image of ourselves leading to increased self-confidence and self-esteem. With better feelings about ourselves, we are often able to accomplish more in the long run. So, this year, focus on what you HAVE done, as opposed to what you still need to do. It just may change the trajectory of your who year!
