Meet Your Therapist

About Melissa

Hello, my name is Melissa Auvine, and I am the owner and therapist at Gypsy Leaf Counseling Services, LLC. Originally from Massachusetts, I’ve called Arizona home since 2015. I quickly fell in love with the warm weather, breathtaking sunsets, and incredible landscapes.

My path to becoming a counselor has been both personal and professional, shaped by years of education and diverse experiences. I hold a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Arizona (2015) and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Westfield State University (2013). I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), and I am currently pursuing my doctoral degree at Bay Path University. Over the years, I’ve worked in many different settings—including special education, early childhood education, school counseling, and behavioral health. These experiences have given me the privilege of working with individuals of all ages and backgrounds, which continues to inspire my passion for helping people grow and heal.

I believe counseling is most effective when it feels collaborative. I can’t create change for you—but together, with effort and commitment on both sides, we can create meaningful progress. My approach to therapy is eclectic and flexible, drawing from a variety of modalities, with an emphasis on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Strengths-Based strategies, Mindfulness, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). My goal is to provide a safe, supportive space where you feel comfortable being yourself. Sessions are guided by your needs and your pace—because no one knows you better than you.

Gypsy Leaf Counseling has been a dream of mine since middle school, when I first knew I wanted to help others through counseling. Years of training, hard work, and dedication have brought me here, and I am grateful to share this space with my clients.

Outside of my professional life, I find joy in nature and creativity. I love hiking, camping, kayaking, crafting, and traveling whenever I can. I share my life with my husband and our two dogs, Hadley and Finn, and I deeply value time spent with family and loved ones. I consider myself an optimist at heart, always striving to find the good in people, places, and situations.

I look forward to the opportunity to walk alongside you on your journey toward healing and wellness.
