New To Therapy?

Let’s face it…talking to a total stranger about your problems is scary. Let’s talk more about the process and how your first session will go.

Step 1: Decide it’s time to make a change.

Good news! If you’re on this page you’ve already made that decision. Woohoo! Step 1 complete.

Step 2: Check out our website.

It’s important that you find a therapist that is the right fit for you. If you think that you’ve found a good fit here, proceed to step 3.

Step 3: Book your consultation.

All new clients are required to book a consultation with the therapist to ensure that your goals align with our practice. The consultation is free and takes about 15 minutes.

Step 4: Book your intake assessment.

During your consultation the therapist will ask if you wish to move forward or if you would like the opportunity to do more research or think over your decision. If you need more time to think about it, no worries. Call us back when you are ready. If you do decide to move forward, the therapist will work with you to find a time in the following weeks where both parties can meet for a longer appointment time.

Step 5: Attend your intake assessment appointment.

Let’s be honest, this is where things get scary. It can be hard to talk about yourself, your past, or your circumstances. During your intake assessment, your therapist will ask all kinds of questions. Don’t fret, your therapist is here to listen. No judgement! Beyond that, clients always have the option to skip questions they don’t feel comfortable answering. Most clients report feeling better after just the first session!

Step 6: Attend following sessions to meet your treatment goals.

During the first few sessions, you and your therapist will work together to develop goals for therapy, in addition to deciding when and how often to meet. Regular attendance and participation in sessions promotes progress towards your goals.
