Men and Mental Health: Breaking the Silence

“Man up.” “Real men don’t cry.” These outdated messages keep men suffering in silence.

Men are less likely to seek help for mental health issues, despite experiencing high rates of depression, substance abuse, and suicide. Cultural expectations around masculinity fuel this silence.

What We Can Do:

  • Normalize therapy: It's strength—not weakness—to ask for help

  • Encourage emotional expression: In families, schools, and media

  • Create safe spaces: For men to talk without judgment

It’s time to redefine strength. Vulnerability is courage.
